Polyformaldehyde is a hard and dense material with a smooth, glossy surface, light yellow or white, and the thin-walled part is translucent. The combustion characteristics are easy to burn, and continue to burn after the fire, the upper end of the flame is yellow, the lower end is blue, melting and dripping, and there is a strong irritating formaldehyde smell and fish odor. Polyformaldehyde is a white powder, generally opaque, good coloring, specific gravity 1.41-1.43 grams/cubic centimeter, molding shrinkage rate 1.2-3.0%, molding temperature 170-200ºC, drying conditions 80-90ºC for 2 hours. The long-term heat resistance of POM is not high, but it can reach 160ºC in the short term, of which the short-term heat resistance of homopolymer POM is more than 10ºC higher than that of copolymer POM, but the long-term heat resistance copolymer POM is about 10ºC higher than that of homopolymer POM. It can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40ºC~100ºC. POM is very easy to decompose, the decomposition temperature is 280ºC, and irritating and corrosive gases occur when decomposed. Therefore, the mold steel should be made of corrosion-resistant materials.
Polyoxymethylene(pom) raw material is suitable for extruding plastic sheet, rod and mould material, with good toughness, high impact, high strength, strong rigidity, rub resistance, good thermal stability and creep resistance, which can replace metal partly.

(1)POM processing can not be dried before, it is best to preheat during the processing (about 80 ° C), which is good for the stability of product size.
(2) The processing temperature of POM is very narrow (0~215 ° C), and when the residence time in the barrel is slightly longer or the temperature exceeds 220 ° C, it will decompose and produce irritating formaldehyde gas.
(3) When the POM material is injected, the pressure holding pressure should be larger (similar to the injection pressure) to reduce the pressure drop. Screw speed can not be too high, the residual amount should be less;
(4) POM products shrinkage rate is large, easy to produce shrinkage or deformation. POM specific heat is large, mold temperature is high (80~100ºC), the product is very hot when demoulding, need to prevent burning fingers.
(5) POM should be formed under the conditions of "medium pressure, medium speed, low material temperature, high mold temperature", and control mold temperature is required when precision products are formed
